Get to Know the MMA Gods at White Belt Breakdown

Get to Know the MMA Gods at White Belt Breakdown

The past week has brought back terrible childhood memories of being the new guy in class. Everyone in the MMA universe has their sources and reasons why they follow who they follow. Well neither of us like sitting alone and eating our dessert like we’re fuckin’ Steven Glansberg, so allow us to take this time to better get acquainted with you all.

Name: Randy Hurley

Age: 31

Height: 5’11”

Weight: 181 lbs.

Nickname: Randytron

Twitter: @RandytronWBB (follow me don’t be a dick)

How did your nickname originate:

Like every great nickname, I created it myself due to the fact in childhood athletics I would transform into a machine and destroy the competition.

What would your walkout song be if you didn’t hide behind a keyboard:

Bonnie Tyler – “Total Eclipse of the Heart”. Odd choice I know, but something about this song puts me in a very special place mentally.

Drink of choice watching events:

Ideally any IPA from Nightshift Brewing in Everett, MA but in Florida those are too difficult to find so any IPA from Tequesta Brewing Co. in Tequesta, FL

Favorite current and all-time Fighter to watch:

Currently: Cowboy Cerrone – he is as well rounded as they come and unlike many Jackson-Wink fighters he is always looking for the finish.

All-time: Dan Henderson – Hendo is a man’s man, always throwing bombs and always fighting top competition. Who doesn’t love watching Hendo fight?

Best event viewed:

UFC 79 – Although this isn’t a popular choice, there was something about this event that felt different. The long awaited war between Wanderlei and Chuck, GSP avenging his loss to Serra, and Machida derailing the Sokoudjou hype train. Add in my NE Patriots record breaking regular season finale and this was an All-American night.

Best event attended live:

WCF 6 – This was a small event in Massachusetts but it had some solid up and coming talent. At a small venue I was able to talk with a young Jon Jones, Joe Lauzon, and Rampage Jackson (cornering Mike Dolce) slapped my friend in the face for telling him his breath stunk.

Bold Prediction for the second half of 2017:

McGregor (due to inactivity), Joanna, and whichever fighter of Cody and Mighty Mouse doesn’t fight TJ, will be the only champions still holding their belts on January 1st, 2018.

Blogging Strength:

My mind is a fight library, I know who fought who, what happened, and when it happened for every relevant fighter in the MMA world.

Blogging Weakness:

Like a young Vitor Belfort, I have no known weaknesses. If I were to name one it is that I am in a constant battle against myself to keep my posts from becoming “wordy”. I know most of our followers struggle in their reading level. I will do better to accommodate.

Night on the town with 3 MMA personalities, who comes with you:

Chuck Liddell, Bas Rutten, and Lyoto Machida: Chuck is self explanatory, known for his partying. Same with Bas and if anyone starts shit, Bas will handle it while Chuck is mumbling in the corner. Machida is purely entertainment, if the guy will drink piss sober, imagine what he will do when intoxicated.

Why did you start blogging:

The social aspect of my life was essentially discussing/arguing about MMA with my friends, so why not write it down and argue with more people?

Why should the MMA community subscribe to your content:

Other than obtaining unimaginable wealth off my betting locks, my views are reinforced by factual information. Whether you agree or disagree, I don’t pull these thoughts out of my ass. I also do my best to incorporate humor into posts when I can without becoming a troll.

Name: Jeremy James Freitas

Weight: 220 lbs.

Nickname: J-Man

Twitter: @JMan_WBB (seriously, don’t be a dick)

How did your nickname originate:

Self made, just like the rest of my life.

What would your walkout song be if you didn’t hide behind a keyboard:

R. Kelly – “The World’s Greatest”

Drink of choice watching events:

Beer – Night Shift Brewery – Don’t be afraid to sponsor us.

Favorite current and all-time Fighter to watch:

Current: Demian Maia (never ever thought I would say that)

All-time: GSP

Best event viewed:

UFC 205

Best event attended live:

UFC Fight Night McGregor v. Siver

Bold Prediction for the second half of 2017:

Frankie Edgar defeats Max Holloway for the 145 belt.

Blogging Strength:

My hilarity and average knowledge of MMA

Blogging Weakness:

Spelling and Length…story of my life.

Night on the town with 3 MMA personalities, who comes with you:

Donald Cerrone, Joe Rogan, and Mark Hunt.

Why did you start blogging:

Self entertainment and to waste 8 hours each day while at work.

Why should the MMA community subscribe to your content:

My content is authentic. I don’t write things to start controversy or make headlines. I’m not a fighter or trained fighter. I am an MMA fan that watches it as most should, which is to be entertained. I will give you an honest look into your average fans brain with some hot takes every now and again.
