J-Man’s QuickPicks: UFC Fight Night Mexico City

UFC Fight Night in Mexico City on August 5th is a putrid card. To say it’s not worth watching is an understatement. I feel like the UFC understood how dangerous Mexico is so they only put fighters on this card that are disposable. Let’s quickly get through Jman’s QuickPick’s, move on and wait for the announcement of Brock vs. Jones or Masvidal vs. Lawler. In the meantime, if you are really hurting for some UFC fights you should tune in tomorrow. Remember the rules are only fights that register on my give-o-shit meter have predictions.

Sergio Pettis vs. Brandon Moreno

Sergio Pettis is a prospect that the UFC has been very delicate with. Given his name and his fight style they have tried to put him in winnable fights since he began his UFC career. This fight is likely the biggest test of Pettis’ young career and a win would catapult him into next shot for the title. Two things happen in high pressure fights, you are Donald Cerrone or you are Jon Jones.

Prediction: Pettis by 4th round RNC

Sam Alvey vs. Rashad Evans

Let’s just skip over every other fight on this card and get into the real main event. Suga Rashad Evans is treading some serious water in the UFC and is in a must win situation. He has 1 foot out the door and Scott Coker’s number on speed dial. Unfortunately, he has literally shown nothing in his last 3 fights and hasn’t won since 2013. I don’t see any difference in this one. We can take a few minutes on Monday to celebrate Rashad’s illustrious career once it is announced that he has been cut.

Prediction: Alvey by Unanimous Decision

Welp there you have it. Let’s just hope that everyone has something to do tomorrow night. If you don’t, and actually watch this card WBB would be happy to have you write an article with post fight breakdowns.
